Jessica Lee

Jessica helps students build confidence in mathematics through problem-solving and real-world applications. As a math teacher for grades 6-10, she works with students at various skill levels, helping them develop both computational fluency and conceptual understanding. Jessica's classroom is a place where mistakes are valued as learning opportunities, where students are encouraged to explain their thinking, and where mathematical reasoning is celebrated. She holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in Math Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Jessica has taught at Meridian for ten years and has developed a reputation for making math accessible and engaging for all students. Her teaching approach emphasizes multiple problem-solving strategies, visual representations, and collaborative learning. Jessica believes that all students can be successful in mathematics when they are given appropriate support and challenge. She differentiates instruction to meet diverse learning needs and works closely with the learning specialist to support students with math anxiety or learning differences.

Jessica is also committed to addressing gender and racial disparities in mathematics achievement. She has implemented culturally responsive teaching practices and works to create a classroom culture where all students feel that they belong in math. Outside of teaching, Jessica leads professional development workshops on math instruction and has presented at regional conferences on topics such as formative assessment and differentiated instruction in mathematics. She also coaches the school's Math Counts team and organizes math enrichment activities like puzzle competitions and guest speaker events.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys playing board games, baking, and spending time with her family.
