Emily Anderson

Emily has taught at Meridian for 12 years and creates a nurturing environment where young learners thrive. As a Primary School teacher, she works with students in grades 1-3, guiding them through critical early learning milestones with patience, creativity, and joy. Emily's classroom is a vibrant space filled with student work, hands-on learning materials, and a palpable sense of community. She believes that young children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful relationships.

Her teaching philosophy centers on fostering curiosity, building confidence, and helping each child develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime. Emily holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin and a master's degree in Literacy Education from Columbia Teachers College. She is trained in several progressive educational approaches, including responsive classroom, project-based learning, and social-emotional learning. Emily is known for her ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of her students.

She collaborates closely with specialists to support students with learning differences and works with families to create home-school partnerships that reinforce learning. Emily is also deeply committed to diversity and inclusion, ensuring that her curriculum reflects the backgrounds and experiences of all her students. She regularly attends professional development workshops and brings new ideas back to her classroom. Outside of teaching, Emily enjoys reading children's literature, hiking, and volunteering with a local literacy program.
