Dr. Sanchez prepares students for college and beyond through challenging coursework and personalized guidance. As Upper School Director and AP Biology teacher, she works with students in grades 9-12, helping them develop the academic skills, intellectual independence, and personal qualities needed for success in higher education and life. Dr. Sanchez holds a Ph.D. in Biology from MIT and taught at the university level before joining Meridian ten years ago. She brings both research expertise and a passion for teaching to her work. Her AP Biology classes are known for their rigor, hands-on lab experiences, and connections to cutting-edge scientific research. Dr. Sanchez believes that high school should challenge students while also supporting their growth as individuals.
She emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and scientific literacy, preparing students not just to succeed in college but to become informed citizens who can engage with complex scientific and ethical issues. As Upper School Director, Dr. Sanchez oversees curriculum development, college counseling, and student support services. She works closely with the college counselor to help students navigate the college application process, and she serves as an advocate and mentor for students facing academic or personal challenges. Dr. Sanchez is committed to ensuring that Meridian's upper school provides both academic excellence and a supportive, inclusive community. She has expanded advanced course offerings, strengthened STEM programs, and created opportunities for student research and independent study.
Outside of school, Dr. Sanchez enjoys running, traveling, and volunteering with science outreach programs that serve underrepresented communities.
