Coach Foster helps athletes reach their personal best in track and field events through dedicated training. As head track and field coach, he works with student-athletes in sprints, distance running, hurdles, jumps, and throws, helping each athlete develop their skills and achieve their goals. Coach Foster holds a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Penn State University and has competed in track and field at the collegiate level. He has coached at Meridian for six years and has built a strong program that values both individual achievement and team spirit.
Coach Foster believes that track and field is unique among sports because it offers something for everyone—athletes of different body types, abilities, and interests can all find an event where they can excel. His coaching approach is individualized and goal-oriented. He works with each athlete to identify their strengths, set realistic but challenging goals, and develop training plans that will help them improve. Coach Foster is known for his technical knowledge, his attention to detail, and his ability to motivate athletes to push past their perceived limits.
Under his leadership, Meridian's track and field team has produced numerous league champions and school record holders. Several of his athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. Coach Foster emphasizes that track and field teaches valuable life skills: goal-setting, self-discipline, resilience, and the satisfaction that comes from hard work and improvement. He creates a team culture where personal records are celebrated just as much as first-place finishes.
Outside of coaching, Coach Foster is an avid runner who competes in road races and marathons. He is certified by USA Track and Field and regularly attends coaching clinics to stay current on training techniques and injury prevention. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cycling, and spending time with his family. His dedication to his athletes and his sport has made track and field a popular and successful program at Meridian.
