Winter Concert Series Showcases Musical Excellence

Arts

Meridian's Winter Concert Series captivated audiences with three evenings of exceptional musical performances, highlighting the breadth and depth of our music program.

The series opened with the Middle School Concert Band and Chorus, whose enthusiastic performances demonstrated impressive growth and musicianship. Seventh-grader Lily Chen's clarinet solo in "Rhapsody in Blue" earned a standing ovation.

The Upper School Orchestra delivered a sophisticated program ranging from Mozart to contemporary film scores. Concertmaster and senior violinist David Kim performed Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with technical precision and emotional depth that moved many audience members to tears.

The final concert featured the award-winning Jazz Ensemble and a cappella groups. The Jazz Ensemble's rendition of Duke Ellington classics showcased both individual virtuosity and tight ensemble playing. The all-female a cappella group, The Meridian Notes, brought audiences to their feet with their contemporary arrangements.

"These performances represent countless hours of individual practice and ensemble rehearsal," noted Music Director Anthony Rodriguez. "But more than technical achievement, our students performed with genuine passion and artistic expression. That's what makes these concerts so special."
