Meridian unveiled its new state-of-the-art Innovation Lab this week, providing students with advanced technology and collaborative spaces for research, design thinking, and creative problem-solving.
The 3,500-square-foot facility features 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, electronics workstations, and computer stations equipped with professional-grade design software. Flexible furniture allows for quick reconfiguration to support different project needs and team sizes.
"The Innovation Lab embodies our commitment to preparing students for a rapidly evolving world," explained Principal Dr. Jennifer Martinez. "Students will use these tools to design solutions to real-world problems, from engineering prototypes to community service projects."
The lab will support coursework across disciplines, from physics and engineering to art and design. Teachers are already planning interdisciplinary projects that combine technical skills with creative thinking and social impact.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, junior engineer Sofia Nguyen demonstrated a prosthetic hand prototype she designed for a child in need. "Having access to these tools lets us move from ideas to actual solutions," she explained. "We can make a tangible difference."
The Innovation Lab was funded through a combination of school capital funds, grants, and community donations. An open house for families is scheduled for next month.
